Experience the Beauty of Barbados’ Underwater World
If you’re looking for an unforgettable family adventure in Barbados, the Barbados Snorkeling Adventure is a must-try experience. My family and I recently embarked on this thrilling excursion, and it exceeded all our expectations. Here’s why you should add this adventure to your Barbados itinerary.
Snorkeling Over the Baja Queen Shipwreck: The highlight of our trip was snorkeling over the historic Baja Queen shipwreck. As we explored the wreckage, we were mesmerized by the vibrant marine life and stunning coral formations that have made this underwater site their home. Barbados's clear, warm waters provided perfect visibility, allowing us to fully appreciate the colorful fish and unique underwater landscape.
Scenic Ride Around Barbados Port Authority: Our adventure began with a scenic ride around the Barbados Port Authority. This was not just a journey but an experience offering breathtaking views of the island’s coastline. The crew shared fascinating insights into the port's history and significance, enhancing our appreciation for the island’s maritime heritage.
Relaxing at Brighton Beach: The adventure culminated with a visit to Brighton Beach, one of Barbados’ most beautiful beaches. Brighton Beach is the perfect spot to unwind after a morning of snorkeling with its pristine white sands and tranquil turquoise waters. We enjoyed swimming in the calm sea and soaking up the sun on the beach, making it a perfect ending to our day.

We booked this with a man called Adrian (calls himself Peter Pan, probably because he refuses the grow up 🙄). We were told we’d be given a private boat for the 7 of us and he charged us $50 US dollars each ($350 for all of us). That’s fine for a private boat out at sea for 2 hours. Until we arrive at the beach today and he takes our money and points at a boat full of people saying that’s what he asked for. Definitely wasn’t and we have text evidence to prove it. Anyway, we cut our losses and decide that 2 hours snorkelling on a boat with other people will still be good fun and we get on. The boat goes out less than 100 yard and all the snorkels are broken and the captain keeps saying “Well, it’s not my fault that other people steal my equipment.”. After 20 mins of fixing his equipment FOR HIM, we finally get in the ridiculously crowded water where we are kicked by other people and struggling to use the broken goggles and snorkels. Seeing the turtle and the shipwreck was great but 15 mins later, they call us back into the boat. We are annoyed but excited to go to the next place. Where was the next place you may be wondering? Back to shore!!! We had less than 50 mins on the boat after paying for 2 hours!!! While being driven back, we get speaking to other passengers who tell us they booked through other people and paid HALF OF WHAT WE PAID!!!
Angry and feeling scammed, we get off the boat and see Adrian approaching us. We begun to ask what happened and why he didn’t give us what we booked. He begins to get very aggressive with my parents, aunt and uncle, pointing his finger in their face and yelling for the whole beach to hear, saying he never agreed to what we booked. When showing him the texts of the agreement, we walked away shouting and refused to listen. He yelled at my dad and treated us very harshly when he was in the wrong. He’s a complete scammer and if you ever see him, AVOID HIM!!!

We chose this tour because the shorter trip length (1h 15m) seemed like a good match for our young kids, ages 1 and just under 4. Our preschooler was delighted to see so many turtles and fish, and Blaise did a wonderful job helping him feel comfortable in the water. All the staff were kind, friendly, and organized, and so patient with our 1yo who cried and then fell fast asleep. Carlisle Bay, where we met the boat, had very calm waters perfect for swimming and sand castles. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a low-key and very enjoyable outing.
